Obituary of Russell H. Love

Russell H. Love, 82, of 339 Van Buren St., Jamestown, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2016 in Houtzdale, Pa. He was born in Houtzdale on October 8, 1933, a son of the late Hugh Bayrd Love and Ruth Ann Davis Love. He was a graduate of HWB High School in Woodward Township and served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. Russ was employed by MRC Bearings for 41 years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and had belonged to the Ira Lou Spring Post 149 American Legion, Moose Lodge, AARP, UAW Local 338 and formerly served on the board of the United Way of Southern Chautauqua County. Russ was also a member of the Babe Ruth World Series Committee, on the board of CODE, was past president of the MRC Credit Union, and enjoyed volunteering as a pilot on the Bemus Point/Stow Ferry. Thanks to his civic involvement throughout the years, he was a past recipient of the Joseph H. Mason Community Service Award. Russ was well-known for his keen sense of humor. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Martha Samuels Love whom he married May 11, 1957; two daughters, Sandra J. Love of Zelienople, Pa. and Cheryl R. Love of Mayville; a son, William T. (LeAnn) Love of Jamestown; seven grandchildren: Michael, Adam, Thomas, Andrew and Anthony Pezzulo, Page (Dan) Anderson and Casey Love; and a sister, Ruth Ann (Norman) Brown of Osceola Mills, Pa. He was preceded in death in 2008 by a grandson, David W. Love; as well as two brothers, Norman and William Love. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald E. Ray will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received for two hours prior to the service, from 12 noon until 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the David W. Love Memorial Scholarship, c/o the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, 418 Spring St.; or to First Presbyterian Church, 509 Prendergast Ave., both Jamestown, N.Y. 14701.
