Obituary of Marion A. Wells

Marion A. "Nuck" Wells, 86, of 526 Weeks St. Jamestown, passed away at 8:47 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2016, in W.C.A. Hospital. A lifelong area resident, he was born April 4, 1930 in Jamestown, NY. He was raised by his grandparents Rose and Jacob Ernewein. He had great respect for his Grandma Rose and enjoyed telling how she handled his many childhood escapades. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, the former Angie L. Field, who devotedly cared for him during his lengthy illness. A skilled tool and die maker, he retired from Dahlstrom Manufacturing Company after working for over 40 years. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army from March 12, 1951 to March 11, 1953. During his tour of duty he completed mechanics school training at the highest level. Also surviving are his three children, Dennis and his wife Sarah of Fort Meyers, FL and Burlington, VT. Debra of Jamestown, NY and her children Megan (Nicholas) Maisto Lundgren of West Seneca, NY, Michael (Rennelyn) Maisto of Rochester, NY, Timothy and his wife Pauline and their children, Lisa and Jennifer all of Ashville, NY, and Joshua of Rochester, NY. He devoted his life to keeping his family safe and secure. He is further survived by his sister, Elsie (Richard) Wells Nelson, brothers, William (Mary) Wells and Gilbert Wells. Brothers and sister-in-laws, Donald (Kathleen) Field, Elbert (Sandy) Field, Harry Field, Gertrude Field, Judith Field and many nieces and nephews who were an important part of his life. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Ernewein Wells, brother in laws, Dana Field and Alton "Punkin" Field, William Thompson and his sister- in laws Arlene Field and Irene Field Thompson. Always willing to lend a hand and find a "fix" for any problem he or anyone else encountered. In his retirement he greatly enjoyed fishing everyday he could, with his good friend John. He had a good life, was proud of his family and home, often telling his wife, he never thought he would have so much. The funeral will be held at 6:00 pm Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Mark Hinman, pastor of the Hillcrest Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4:00 to 6:00 pm Monday in the funeral home.
