She was a 1952 graduate of Albion High School and received her B.S. degree from Edinboro State College and a Graduate degree from Penn State. She owned and operated Harahue Top Soil Service in Erie, PA for 12 years. She was an art teacher in Cherry Creek, South Dayton, Frewsburg, Celeron, Fluvanna, Sunnyside, and Maple Grove schools, and after 29 years of teaching she retired in 1989 from the Bemus Point School System. After her retirement she owned and operated June's Coffee Shop in Lakewood with her daughter Melodie for several years. June was a member of Fluvanna Community Church for many years and served on the Board of Trustees. Having a love and involvement for children, she organized Bemus Point Kids Club and created bulletin boards. She also established several youth funds with the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation to benefit youth going into ministry. With faith in God, she developed, subcontracted, and constructed her home in Bemus Point. An avid gardener, she also enjoyed jig saw puzzles and could be seen driving around the neighborhood on her golf cart. June is survived by her daughters Melodie Walters (Brian Walters) of Sarasota, FL and Kathleen M. Kern (Al Kern) of Dunkirk, a grandson Jake Walters of Ruskin, FL, and many nieces and a nephew. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 21, 2016, in the Fluvanna Community Church. Rev. Dayle F. Keefer will officiate. Burial will be in Bemus Point Cemetery.
