Obituary of David L. Klawon

David L. Klawon, MD When David died, he was cured of cancer and joined the heavenly hosts on May 30, 2016 at age 69. He was born the second son of the late Edwin R. and Marion S. "Peg" Klawon on August 19, 1946. David graduated with the class of 1964 from Southwestern Central School. He was blessed with a scholarship to attend Colgate University, graduating in 1968 with a bachelor's degree. He then earned his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine, Rochester, NY in 1972 and served a four year residency there in anatomic and clinical pathology. He was a partner for 28 years with Pathology Associates of Erie and was laboratory director at Hamot Medical Center (UPMC), St. Vincent's Health Center and Corry and Kane, Pennsylvania hospitals. He was a member of numerous state and national medical and pathology societies. David enjoyed gardening, golfing, tennis and downhill skiing. He loved reading God's word and serving the Lord, and was a member of Bemus Point United Methodist Church. He was well loved and respected and will be tremendously missed by his family, friends and colleagues. David was in love with his wife of 47 years, the former Sandy Loomis, and they were blessed with three daughters: Christa Nishnick (Chris) of North East, PA, Jeanne Godaire (David) of Evergreen, CO and Emily Newes (Kevin) of Evergreen, CO. He was also blessed with seven grandchildren: Zachary, Andrew, Matthew and Katherine Nishnick, Lindsay Godaire and Amity and Delaney Newes; as well as a brother, William (Gloria) Klawon of Fredricksburg, Texas. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 25 at 11 a.m. in the Bemus Point United Methodist Church. A private burial service will be held in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Ashville.
