Obituary of Virginia C. Cummings

Virginia C. Cummings, 86, of Jamestown, passed away at 2:06 a.m. Tuesday, February 7, 2017, in the Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. A lifelong area resident, she was born July 29, 1930 in Jamestown, NY, a daughter of the late Thomas and Chrisula Constantine. She was a graduate of Jamestown High School and had previously been employed by the former Proto Tool Company from 1949-1956 and the former Jamestown Veneer and Plywood from 1983-1992. She had also served as an Avon representative for several years. She was a lifetime member of the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and the Ladies Erene Society of St. Nicks. Surviving are a son, Stephen R. (Sara) Cummings of Stoneville, NC, seven grandchildren, Kurt (Diane) Cummings of Lakewood Ranch, FL, Kevin (Kesha) Cummings of Richmond, VA, Bryan (Victoria) Cummings of Jamestown, William "Billy" (Katrina) Cummings of Ashville, NY, Brittany (Chad) Crandall of Mayville, NY, Ashley (Brandon) Siliano of Ashville, NY, Jeffrey Green of Cherry Creek, NY, 14 great grandchildren, a sister, Loretta Searls of Glendora, CA, and two sister-in-laws, Athena Constantine of Jamestown, Dawn Henderson of Lakewood, NY. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James A. Cummings whom she married May 3, 1953 and who died August 7, 1971, a son, James B. Cummings who died November 5, 2016, five brothers, William, Nicholas, Gust, Christ and Terry Constantine, a sister, Marie Leake, a sister-in-law, Mildred Constantine and two brother-in-laws, Ted Searls, Russell Leake. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. The Rev. Jarrod Russell, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home where a Trisagion Prayer Service will be led by Rev. Russell at 7:45 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
