Obituary of Carol A. Cole

Carol A. Cole, 90, of 11 Green St. Lakewood, NY, formerly of Wellman Rd. Ashville, NY, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, February 26, 2017, in the Buffalo General Hospital, Buffalo, NY. A lifelong area resident, she was born December 20, 1926 in Jamestown, NY a daughter of the late Albin and Ruby Seekins Anderson. She was a 1944 graduate of Jamestown High School. Carol was an active member of the Lakewood Baptist Church and attended Grace Chapel in Jamestown where her late husband was a lay minister. Before her retirement years she had worked for the former Quality Markets for over 20 years. Following her retirement she worked as a manager for the Hickory Farms Store. In earlier years, she worked for the Hellman's Grocery and during the World War II era had worked at the former Crescent Tool Company. Carol loved music and was a paid professional musician playing French horn in the Jamestown Municipal Band and the Jamestown Civic Orchestra. She also played in several worship teams in area church's for many years. Always one to keep busy, Carol volunteered for many organizations including, The Lutheran Home, Bush Elementary School, the Humane Society and volunteered for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program for over 20 years. She was an avid reader and was a member of the African Violet Club. She was also very active in the activities of Camp Li-Lo-Li in Steamburg, NY, where she was head cook and manager of the camp store for many years. She also was worked for the Chautauqua County Board of Elections and the Census Bureau. Surviving are three daughters, Sharyl M. (Kent) Shields of Ashville, NY, Kristine A. (Michael) Taylor of Wheatfield, NY, Karalea J. (John Deppas) Bradish of Jamestown, a son, John K. (Mary) Cole of Burlington, NC, 12 grandchildren, Maureen Shields, Faith (Ed) Piskor, Eleanor (Josh Rocker) Cole, Jacob (Rachael Redinger) Shields, Nora (Jim Salerno) Shields, Hope Cole, Grace Cole, Emily (Brian) Tippett, Charles "CJ" (Jessica) Taylor, John Taylor, Grant Bradish, Harrison Bradish, Grayson Bradish, 9 great grandchildren, Devin Riley, Tyler Riley, Mikayla Bartlett, Nathaniel Bartlett, Annabella Tippett, Kera Tippett, Breighenna Tippett, Joseph Tippett, Chloe Hess-Shields and one great great granddaughter, Aria Riley, a sister, Leah Marie Bullock of Jamestown and many nieces and nephews also survive. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John K. Cole whom she married October 23, 1946 and who died March 3, 2002, two sisters, Henrietta Bullock, Ruby Johnson and two brothers, Albin Anderson, Leo Anderson. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Daniel Cook, retired pastor of the Lakewood Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lakewood Baptist Church, 150 Erie St. Lakewood, NY 14750 or to the Grace Chapel, 379 Buffalo St. Jamestown, NY 14701.
