Obituary of Marian T. Cala

Marian T. Cala, 95, of 18 Carey Place, Jamestown, passed away at 11:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2017, in her home. A lifelong area resident, she was born May 16, 1921 in Jamestown, NY a daughter of the late Carmelo "Carl" and Maria Liuzzo Triscari. Marion was a 1939 graduate of Jamestown High School and a communicant of Holy Apostles Parish at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Before her retirement in 1986, she was employed by Quality Markets in the deli and bakery department for 10 years. In earlier years she co-owned Albert's Restaurant and Fine Foods and also worked as a waitress for the former Cala's Restaurant. She will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother who devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. In earlier years she was active with the Euclid Ave. School Parent Teacher's Association and also loved to spend time china painting. Surviving are three daughters, Catherine (Robert) Cliff of Lake Tahoe, CA, Mary Carla (Douglas) Champ of Jamestown, Susan (Michael) McPherson of Erie, PA, a son, Albert D. (Susanne) Cala of Ellington, NY, three grandchildren, James A. Thompson of Lakewood, NY, Skye R. (Ryan) Reynolds of Boca Raton, FL, Madeline M.A. Cala (Jake Klau) of Buffalo, NY, two great grandson's, Owen Paul Reynolds, Clayton Reynolds of Boca Raton, FL, two sisters, Josephine LaBarbera of KY , Nelle Cala of Jamestown, as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert A. Cala whom she married March 4, 1946 and who died November 26, 1987, five sisters, Nancy Heath, Betty Fusco, Sara Gulino, Selma Sandbloom, Louise Jowett and a brother Samuel Triscari. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday in Holy Apostles Parish at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home where a Christian Wake Service will be led at 1:45 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
