Obituary of David D. Clauson

David D. Clauson, 80, of 19 Grove Ave. Bemus Point, NY, passed away at 4:40 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2017, in his home with his loving wife of 57 years by his side. A Bemus Point resident since 1961, he was born April 12, 1937 in Jamestown, NY, a son of the late Gardner and Gladys Mason Clauson. Before his retirement in 1989, he was a construction worker for the Local 66 Carpenters Union where he served for 60 years. He was a member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club and a former member of the War Vets Recreation Club and the Ingjald Lodge 65 Independent Order of the Vikings. David will be remembered as a true fan of NASCAR Racing and enjoyed watching Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. He was also a collector of anything NASCAR. He was known for his love of cars and was very proud of his collector cars and spent many hours at area car shows. While living in Bemus Point he loved fishing and boating on Chautauqua Lake. Surviving are his wife the former Mary Ellen Emmott whom he married August 29, 1959, two sons, Scott D. (Toni Ann) Clauson, Douglas D. (Debora Ann) Clauson both of Bemus Point, NY, three grandchildren, Tyler Clauson of FL, Bria Clauson, Jenna Clauson both of Bemus Point and a great grandson, Kade Clauson. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Merlin Clauson, Ronald Clauson and four sisters, Joan Ceci, Jeanne "Sally" Torrey, June Goodwill, Sandra Harrington. The funeral will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. William Allen, pastor of the Bemus Point United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Bemus Point Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service in the funeral home.
