Obituary of Helen P. Andrews

Helen Anna Rose Peterson Andrews, 89, beloved wife of Richard Hugh Andrews, died Friday, June 2, 2017 at her home in Sumter, SC. Born October 31, 1927 in Jamestown, NY, she was the daughter of the late John Edward Peterson and Caroline Rose Beck Peterson. Helen was well known for her delicious pies and culinary skills. She loved gardening, particularly flowers of any variety. Most important to her was her family. She was a true friend to many people. Helen and Dick were active members of the Busti Historical Society serving in many capacities throughout the years. She was a member of Pinewood Baptist Church in South Carolina and Lakewood United Methodist Church. Helen was formerly deputy town clerk and then town clerk for 17 years for the Town of Busti. Survivors include her husband of 68 years; three children, Linda Morse of Sumter, SC, Teresa Wise of The Villages, Florida, and Rodney (Cathy) Andrews of Ashville, NY; three grandchildren, John Edward Carmen, Christy Leigh Wise, and Kendra Lynne Bellas; and four great-grandchildren, Braden, Joshua, Drew and Landon. The family will receive friends at the Lind Funeral Home on Friday, June 16th from 7 to 9 p.m. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
