Obituary of Alonzo Hilson

Alonzo Hilson, 63, of 55 New York Ave., Lakewood, passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at the Gowanda Rehabilitation & Nursing Center. He was born December 23, 1953 in Fairmount, WV, a son of the late Theodore Johnson and Rosalee Hilson, and received his Associate Degree from Jamestown Community College. A steamfitter by trade, he was a member of the Steamfitters Union #22. He had also worked as a counselor for Changing Seasons and was a member of the Blackwell Chapel AME Zion Church. Alonzo will be remembered as a kind and gentle man. Alonzo is survived by his wife whom he's known for over 20 years, Suzanne Joyce Hilson; three daughters: Danetta (Antoine, Sr.) Rucker of Cleveland, OH, Ayla Hilson of Jamestown and Dana Hilson of Fairmount, WV; three sons: Alonzo Hilson, Jr. of Fairmount, WV, Ryan (Kathy) Lindstrom of Fairport, NY and Michael (Debbie) Lindstrom of Cumming, GA; and five grandchildren: Antoine, Jr. and Antonio Rucker, Teja Hilson, and Thomas & Jack Lindstrom. Also surviving are brothers: Marion (Magalene) Hilson of Maidsville, WV, Theodore Johnson, Jr. of Middletown, OH and Johnny Jo Johnson of Buffalo; a sister, Maxine Johnson of Buffalo; and several nephews and nieces, including Sadie Johnson of West Virginia, and cousins, including Valerie Johnson of Jamestown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Marion Dwayne Hilson; uncle and aunt, Sydney and Hattie Hooper Hilson; and two nephews, Marion Hilson, Jr. and Larry Johnson, Jr. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017 at the Blackwell Chapel AME Zion Church, 610 Spring Street, Jamestown. Pastor Reggie Smith will officiate. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service, from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the church. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
