Obituary of Howard R. Boutelle

Howard R. Boutelle Sr., 81, of 3711 Mead Road Jamestown, NY, passed away Saturday September 16, 2017 in the Pittsburgh VA Hospital. He was born April 5, 1936 in Salamanca, NY the son of the late LeRoy and Amy "Peg" Wright Boutelle. As a young man growing up in Salamanca, he worked for the B & O Railroad, Celoron Skateland and Amusement Park. Howard enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, August 1956, and was honorably discharged as a Corporal December 1959. Prior to retirement, he worked at the Quality Markets Warehouse in Celoron. Previously, he worked at Proto Tool for 20 years and then Blackstone Valeo. Howard was a member of the Ashville United Methodist Church, Herman Kent Post 777 American Legion, and a former member of the War Vets. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially at the ocean, running marathons in his younger years, bow hunting, fishing, canoeing, and family camping. Howard loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was always there for them. He loved having a house full of family and friends. Surviving are his wife Shirley Stormer Boutelle with whom he celebrated their 57th anniversary June 18th; four children: Cheryl (Doug) Trabert of Erie, PA; Ellen (Clint) Chapman of Lottsville, PA; Howard R. (Patricia) Boutelle Jr. of Orchard Park, NY; Jennifer Roller (Ken) of Busti; 19 grandchildren: Jessica (Lee), Samantha, Howard III, Patrick, Lindsey, Jillian(Dave), Bethany(Jason), Krissie(Brandon), Suessie, Mallory, Morgan(Shawn), Cassandra(Andrew), Spencer, Holly, Patience(Joe), Matthew Jr., Shamah, Dawn, and Deborah; six great grandchildren: Leanne, Rachael, Kaden, Rylee, Kaitlyn, and Troy. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his best friend who was like a brother, Walt Magara. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations and memorials may be made to the family for funeral expenses.
