Obituary of Corrine C. Walker

Corrine Copeland Walker, 85, of Jamestown, N.Y., passed away Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, at UPMC Chautauqua WCA Hospital, Jamestown, N.Y. She was born Nov. 6, 1932, in Tupelo, Miss., the daughter of the late Annette and Harry Hall and Louise Copeland and the late Elijah Copeland. She attended school in Rienzi, Miss., and moved to Jamestown, N.Y., in 1955. Along with her husband, Sam, she owned and operated Walker and Sons Trucking and retired from the former Sprinchorn after more than 20 years of service. Her life was devoted to her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. One of her greatest pleasures was the fact that she was instrumental in the care and raising of the children in the family. She was a devoted and faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, where she was involved in many auxiliaries. She made sure that the children in her family attended not only Sunday school but were involved in the church community. Corrine Copeland Walker was truly loved by her family. Her home was always the place to be. There was always never ending food, laughter and love. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her. Besides her stepmother, Louise Copeland of Jackson, Tenn., she is survived by three sons: the Rev. Leroy (Debbie) Walker of Jamestown, N.Y., Jerry (Theresa) Walker of Oneonta, N.Y., and Leary (the late Cindy Sperry) Walker Sr. of Jamestown, N.Y.; three daughters: Sallie (Robert Donaldson) Walker, Glenda Sue (Keith) Blake and Brenda (Patrick) Bunce, all of Jamestown, N.Y; 12 grandchildren: Leary "JR" Walker Jr., Kareem "Karrie" Walker, Janel (Rich) Fleurant, Brandon (Natalie) Walker, Stephanie (Erik) Walker- Williams and Teresa (Bobby Hoch) Walker and Madison Walker-Blake, all of Jamestown, N.Y., Katrina Walker of Spartanburg, S.C., Alissa Walker of Pittsburgh, Pa., Keishia Blake of New York City and Chevelle "Chevy" Walker and Therista "Felice" (Albert) Stephens, both of Utica, N.Y.; 25 great-grandchildren; seven great-great- grandchildren; two step- grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren; six sisters: Evelyn Ellison and Gertrude Copeland, both of Jackson, Tenn., Phyllis (Dwayne) Farmer of Hopewell, Va., Maxine Harris of Atlanta, Ga., and Sheila (Jeffrey) Smith of Denver, Colo., and Shirley (Stanley) Boyd of Corinth, Miss.; a brother, William Terry (Debra) Copeland of Nashville, Tenn. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews, including Ron (Helen) Graham of Jamestown, N.Y. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sammie Lee Walker, whom she married Aug. 11, 1950, and who passed away Aug. 26, 1991; and a sister, Atiyah Addullah, who passed away October 2009. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017, at Emmanual Baptist. The Rev. Maria Jones will officiate.
