Obituary of Laurie R. Riederer

Laurie R. Riederer, 56, of Maple Springs, peacefully left her body on the morning of Monday November 20, 2017 in her home, in the company of her family. She was born on January 10, 1961 in Buffalo, NY the second daughter of the late George A. and Donna E. Gibson Riederer Jr. Laurie was a graduate of Maple Grove Jr. Sr. High School. In addition to her studies her responsibilities included cooking and housekeeping for her family as well as assisting with bookkeeping and managerial duties for the family business. As a young adult she pursued further training as a tax preparer and held various jobs around the area. She worked as a medical courier for Smithkline Beecham Labs for approximately 10 years before her career path took a turn and she began her employment with the Barbara Berry Book Shop in Ashville, working for Warren and Barbara Berry. Laurie was an avid reader, and had a great love for books and literature. She was fondly referred to as the "book lady" by those closest to her, having a habit for remembering favorite likes and authors of those around her and accommodating those preferences accordingly. She loved her work and took pride in her excellent performance and dedication as manager of the book shop and professional and personal assistant to her employers for over 20 years. Laurie was a devoted homemaker, peace activist, animal rights activist and a former member of the Maple Springs Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. Laurie was a loyal and generous kindhearted lady who had an adventurous spirit, enjoyed the company of good people, children, animals and loved music, nature, attending cultural events, and traveling. Surviving are three sisters: Tracy (Cindy) Riederer of Lackawanna, NY; Jill (Tom) Milton of Cuba, NY; Norma (Craig) King of Germany; and one adopted sister Denise Doonan of Bronx NY. Also surviving are her second mother, Jane M. Anderson of Maple Springs; a brother, Patrick McNallie of Busti, NY; several nieces and nephews who she devoted much of her time to and was a second mother to many: Elizabeth Milton of Denver, CO; Sheeanna Milton of Cuba, NY; Alexander and Sydney King both of Germany; Nicholas Siccurella and Mark Garrett both of the Jamestown area; Jessica Morrison of Celoron, NY; Bryce Rudolph of Las Vegas, NV; and Bailey, Kelsey, and Gregory McNallie, all of Busti, NY. A celebration of Laurie's life will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will not be observed.
