Obituary of Bruce A. Johnson

Bruce A. Johnson, 86, of 409 Prospect Street, formerly of Forest Avenue, died Monday December 18, 2017, in UPMC Chautauqua WCA. A Jamestown resident most of his life, he was born February 9, 1931, in Jamestown, the son of the late Alvah and Doris Peterson Johnson. He graduated from Jamestown High School in 1949 and Ithaca College in 1958. He was a Korean War veteran of the US Air Force serving from 1951-55 as an air policeman and working for a time at the Pentagon. Prior to his retirement he was employed by WCA Hospital, as a physical therapist for 30 years. Since he so enjoyed his career, he donated his body to University of Buffalo Medical School to benefit others. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. He was also a former member of the Vikings and many area golf courses. He began a regimen of physical fitness and weight lifting at the age of 16 and was one of the first members of the YMCA weight lifting club. He continued his love for fitness through out his life. He loved to play tennis in his earlier years and golfed later in life. He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, which only took second place to his keen fashion sense. Surviving are his wife Donna Nelson Johnson, whom he married June 15, 1957; three children Kari (Sam) Dominico of Winston-Salem, NC, Kurt (Tammy) Johnson of Jamestown and Krista (Joe) Camarata of Jamestown; six grandchildren Benjamin Dominico of Winston-Salem, NC, Joshua (Rachel) Dominico of Raleigh, NC and Colin and Kaden Johnson and Zoe and Lily Camarata all of Jamestown and two great grandchildren Kolten Dominico of Winston-Salem, NC and Norah Dominico of Raleigh, NC. A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday January 13, 2018, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Rev. Tara Eastman and Rev. Daniel Nagel will officiate. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to noon at the church on the day of the service. Memorials may be made to United Way of Southern Chautauqua County, 413 N. Main St, Jamestown, NY 14701, or the Karen J Hagstrom Memorial Fund SBU.EDU/donate or a charity of choice. You may leave words of condolence at www.lindfuneralhome.com.
