Obituary of Carolyn Edson

Carolyn J. Edson, 88, of 124 Aldren Ave. Jamestown, passed away at 8:30 am Friday, January 5, 2018, in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center. A lifelong area resident, she was born December 24, 1929, at the family home in the Town of Busti, NY, a daughter of the late Joe L. and Ethel M. Lawson Boswell. She was a 1947 graduate of Jamestown High School and was a longtime member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother who loved being a homemaker and spending time with her family. She was also an important part of her husband's business, Barney's Keystone Service Station on Forest Ave. for many years. Surviving are two daughters, Barbara J. (Rev. Kenneth) Foust of Lower Burrell, PA, Susan K. (Robert) Marchiando of Twinsburg, OH, four grandchildren, Will Foust of Glenmore, PA, Christy Marchiando, Anna Marchiando and Alyssa Marchiando all of Cleveland, OH, as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Bernard "Barney" Edson whom she married March 20, 1948 and who died March 3, 2014, a granddaughter, Carrie Sue Foust, two sisters, Maxine Mason, Janet Tedquist and three brothers, Roger "Bud" Boswell, Dale Boswell and Charles Boswell. The funeral will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, January 10, 2018, in Christ Chapel of Lutheran Social Services. The Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt, pastor of Lutheran will officiate. Burial will be in the Busti Cemetery. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday in Christ Chapel. The family suggests that memorials be made to the Carrie Foust Memorial Scholarship Fund at Pine Springs Camp, 371 Pine Springs Camp Road, Jennerstown, PA 15547 or to the Lutheran Foundation, 715 Falconer St. Jamestown, NY 14701.
