Obituary of James Arthur Erickson

James Arthur Erickson, 90, formerly of 3571 Lake Ridge Rd. and 2417 Horton Rd., passed away Friday evening, Nov. 3, 2023 at Heritage Green Rehab & Skilled Nursing. A lifelong area resident, he was born Feb. 21, 1933, a son of the late Andrew and Anna Bergman Erickson, and was a 1950 graduate of Jamestown High School. From 1953 to 1955 he served in the Army where he was a Staff Sergeant, 5th Battalion 7th Army during the Korean War. In early years, Jim was employed by Pennsylvania Gas Co., and Tordoff Plumbing & Heating. He then owned and operated Erickson Plumbing & Heating from 1968 until his retirement in 1993. Jim was a member of Mount Moriah Lodge F&AM 145, Jamestown Consistory, and Tree of Life Lutheran Church (formerly Holy Trinity) where he served on the property committee for many years. Surviving are nephews Andrew (Cynthia) Erickson, Matthew (Stacie) Oste and niece, Roberta (Thomas) McCardle, all of North Carolina. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Delores "Dodie" Seager Erickson, whom he married Oct. 4, 1969 in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and who died Sept. 24, 2022; three sisters: Sylvia Oste in 2022, Betty Sturm in 1979, and Esther Barbara Erickson in 1924; a brother, Andrew B. Erickson in 2012; and a nephew, Kevin Erickson in 2007. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. Rev. Timothy Hoyer will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Falconer. Friends will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. before the service Saturday. A Masonic Lodge Funeral Service will be led at 2 p.m. prior to the funeral.
