Obituary of Michael F. Danielson

Michael F. Danielson, 76, of Jamestown, NY, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2023 surrounded by family. Michael was born in Winchendon, MA on October 6, 1947, a son of the late Exilda and Michael Danielson. He graduated from Narragansett Regional High School and continued on to receive his bachelor's and master's degrees in business from American International College in Springfield, MA. Michael is survived by his loving wife, Kathy, of 51 years, and his devoted daughters, Michelle Arnone of Lakewood, NY and Colleen Danielson of Boston, MA. He is also survived by his son-in-law Eric Arnone, and his grandchildren, Ethan and Allie Arnone; his brother, T. Roger Danielson of San Jose, CA; and several nieces and nephews. Michael was a man of deep faith and had a vast number of interests and hobbies. He was a member of the St. James Catholic Church, the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club, the Jamestown Skeet Club and the Big Tree Sportsman Club. He was an avid outdoorsman, a passion that began in his youth fishing and hunting with his father, and he eventually earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Michael was a US Army Veteran and served as a military police officer in Washington, DC. He loved sports, history and politics, woodworking projects and New England fried clams. In his professional life, Michael worked in manufacturing throughout New England before moving to Western NY in 1984 to join Bush Industries. He went on to work at other furniture companies, and he finished his career in sales at Bureau Veritas Quality International. Michael valued his community and gave his time generously to several organizations close to his heart. He volunteered at the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, the Child Advocacy Program of Chautauqua County, the Ashville Free Library, the Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame, was a kettle bell ringer for the Salvation Army at the holidays, and a docent at the Robert H. Jackson Center where he shared his love for history. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. James Catholic Church in Jamestown on Saturday Dec. 23, 2023 at 10 am. Inurnment will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA in the spring/summer of 2024. Should friends desire, memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation for the Michael F. Danielson Memorial Fund.
