Obituary of Constance L. Basile

Constance L. Basile, 101, of Lakewood passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, February 10, 2024. She was the widow of Carlo G. Basile whom she married June 26, 1948 and who died June 29, 2008. A Jamestown native, Connie was born October 10, 1922, the daughter of the late Gaetano and Giovanna "Jenny" Piazza Tilaro. Following graduation from Jamestown Business College, she began working for Sears as a payroll clerk, first at the original Jamestown location and then in Lakewood until her retirement. She was an avid gardener who loved her flowers. She also enjoyed sewing, and cooking and baking for others. Always active, Connie shoveled her own driveway into her 80's. Surviving is her sister-in-law, Anna Tilaro of Lakewood; nieces and nephews, Cynthia (Daniel) Tilaro-Smith of Lakewood, Thomas (Mary) Tilaro of Longwood, FL, Joann Sholl of Lakewood, and Robert (Jenny) Tilaro of Lakewood; and ten great nieces and nephews: Kristina (Mike Morton) Smith, Joseph (Heidi) Smith, Charlotte Tilaro, Nicholas Tilaro, Megan, Adam, Hannah and Jacob Sholl, Sebastian Tilaro and Gabriel Tilaro. In addition to her husband, Connie was preceded in death by her brother, Sebastian "Bob" Tilaro in 2022 and a nephew-in-law, Donald Sholl in 2021. A private family service will be held.
