Obituary of Susan E. Shafer

Susan E. Shafer, 65, of Jamestown, passed away Thursday March 28, 2024, at UPMC Hamot after a brief illness. She was born December 26, 1958, in Jamestown, NY, the daughter of the late Garland Sr. And Alice Haines Dean. Before her retirement she worked as a Certified Nurse's Assistant at Waters of Eden Nursing Home in Eden, NY. Susan found joy in spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren always supporting them in all their sporting events. She was a Breast Cancer Survivor. Surviving are her two daughters: Ashley (Jonathan) Jones, Michelle Shafer; her two sons Dylan Shafer and Gordon "Buddie" (Brittney) Pangborn Jr; Nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her long-time partner of 40 years, Gordon D. Pangborn who died March 14, 2023; her siblings Gary Dean Sr, Judith Beardsley, Robert Dean, Garland "Butch" Dean Sr, George Dean, and Ruth Dean. Her daughter Connie Shafer and grandson Garth W.N. Shafer. The funeral will be held at 2 pm Saturday April 6, 2024, in the Lind Funeral Home where friends will be received for one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2 pm.
