Obituary of Frederick W. Lang Jr.

Frederick W. "Fred" Lang Jr., 83, of Bemus Point, passed away Wednesday April 3, 2024, at Saint Vincent Hospital, Erie, PA. He was born June 9, 1940, the son of the late Frederick Sr. and Signe Swan Lang. Fred was a 1958 graduate of Jamestown High School. Following high school, he joined the U.S. Army and was a member of the U.S. Army reserves for many years. Before his retirement he worked for the Bank of Jamestown as a messenger where he met his wife, Watson Manufacturing as the Vice President and most notably he was the owner and operator of Lang Construction. Fred was a loving husband, father and grandfather always putting his family first. He enjoyed steelhead fishing, wood carving, gardening and loved all his cats. He was a member of the War Veterans Recreation Inc and of the Shriners. Surviving is his wife of 64 years, Diane Anderson Lang whom he married February 13, 1960; his children Mark (Patricia) Lang of Bemus Point and Lindee Bastian of Jamestown, and his two grandsons Korey Bastian of Bemus Point and Ryder Shaffer of Falconer. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his two sisters Phyllis Park and Ruth Seymour. The funeral will be held at 4 pm Wednesday April 10, 2024, at the Lind Funeral Home where friends will be received an hour prior to the service from 3 to 4 pm. Burial will be at Bemus Point Cemetery.
