Obituary of Alice W. Yahn

Download the original attachment Alice W. Yahn, 80, of Crestview Drive Bemus Point, died Sunday (May 16, 2010) in her home. She was born January 2, 1930 in Jamestown the daughter of Edward M. and Winifred Sweet Reeves Sr. She was a lifelong resident and a 1949 graduate of Jamestown High School. She had been employed at the former Bank of Jamestown and then worked at Marine Midland (now HSBC) for over 35 years in Cherry Creek and as manager of the Spring St. Branch prior to her retirement in 1990. Alice was a member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Bemus Point. She had a passion for animals and served on the Board of Directors of the Chautauqua County Humane Society for many years and was the executive director after her retirement from Marine Midland Bank until 1995. Alice and her husband were both very involved with the Boy Scouts. She spent many years living on the lake, first at Shore Acres and now at her current home. In earlier years she enjoyed boating, fishing, and roller-skating with her husband. Alice was a very dedicated friend to many and enjoyed helping others when she was able. She will be missed by her dearest friends and neighbors. Surviving are two nieces, Suzanne M. Anderson, and Barbara A. Nichols; sister in law, Joyce Hastings Reeves; and several great nieces and great nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth D. Yahn whom she married September 18, 1954 and who died April 27, 1993; and a brother, Rev. Edward M. Reeves Jr. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, June 12th at 10am at St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Bemus Point.
