Obituary of Samuel F. Valone

Samuel F. Valone, 94, of 540 Lakeview Avenue, Jamestown, passed away at 3:25 p.m. Friday (June 25, 2010) in his home. A lifelong area resident he was born April 4, 1916 in Jamestown a son of the late John and Carmella Laduca Valone. Mr. Valone was a graduate of Jamestown High School and attended Ryder University in Trenton, NJ. While living in New Jersey he had worked for RCA and the Camden Ship Yard before returning to Jamestown. Mr. Valone started working with his father in the real estate business which led him to a career in that field, becoming a commercial developer and was President of NYPENN Realty and Leaseland, Inc. He was the developer of Westwood Estates in Jamestown as well as being instrumental in developing the Quality Market Stores and Texaco gas stations throughout the region. He also played an important role in the appraisals for the Kinzua Dam. He was a communicant of Holy Apostles Parish of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church and in earlier years he had served on the Board of Directors for the Salvation Army and served as President for the Jamestown Board of Realtors. He is survived by many nieces and nephews as well as extended family members and relatives. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife the former Eva C. Orsell Valone whom he married April 1, 1942 in New Jersey and who died September 23, 2002, his twin sister Martha Valone who died in 1916, a sister Louise Carmen and three brothers John T., James R., and Anthony M. Valone. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 29, 2010, in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende, pastor of the Holy Apostles Parish of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Monday, June 28, 2010, in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
