Obituary of Oleta K. Barton

Oleta K. Barton, 87, formerly of Loyalton of Lakewood, 220 Southwestern Dr. Lakewood, NY and Lindquist Dr., Falconer, NY, passed away at 1:10 a.m. Tuesday (June 29, 2010) in the Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. A lifelong area resident she was born August 4, 1922 in the Town of Leon, NY a daughter of the late Martin and Hazel Greely Young. In earlier years she had worked for the former Cherry Creek National Bank and the former Chautauqua National Bank in Jamestown. She also worked for the former Lockwood's Department Store for several years. She attended the Falconer United Methodist Church and was a member of the Political Study Club, the Frewsburg Study Club, the Mozart Club, was a 55 year member of the Elliot Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a member of the Jamestown Audubon Society. She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family. She spent many years as her sons biggest race fan and has 40 years of scrap booking articles of Dick Barton's racing career. She was an avid Buffalo Bills fan and loved the beauty of mothernature, driving through the hills, bird watching and Chautauqua Lake. She had a keen interest in the history of Chautauqua County and Western New York. Surviving are a son Richard A. (Joan) Barton of Ashville, NY, a daughter Constance (Leroy) Bloodworth of Florence, SC, four grandchildren Aaron R. Barton of Tampa, FL, Andrea J. Barton of Charlotte, NC, Rebecca M. Robbins of Philadelphia, PA, Richelle M. (Kevin) Seck of Pleasant Hill, MO, and her three great grandchildren Jennifer Graham, Andrew Culbertson, Kerissa Seck. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Clarence A. Barton whom she married January 10, 1945 and who died August 7, 1986 and her sister Wilma Lapham who passed away the same day as Oleta at the age of 97. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. Pastor George Heiser, chaplain at the Loyalton of Lakewood will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Jamestown Audubon Society, 1600 Riverside Rd. Jamestown, NY 14701.
