Obituary of Marilyn L. Haglund

Marilyn Louise "Bing" Binger Haglund, 86, died Friday, June 25, 2010 at her home in Bemus Point. She was born February 26, 1924 in Newark, Ohio, a daughter of the late Harry and Freda Reichert Binger. Following her graduation from Newark High School in 1942, she attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio where she met and married C. Donald Haglund of Jamestown, NY. A Jamestown area resident since 1945, she was a member of First Presbyterian Church, was active in many community groups and enjoyed many friends. Marilyn was proud of her Ohio "Buckeye" roots and returned often to visit family and friends in Newark, most recently attending her 65th high school class reunion. Marilyn was a devoted wife and mother and will be forever remembered for the love she had for her family. Children, grandchildren and their activities were most important. She is survived by three sons: C. Donald (Lori) Haglund of San Antonio, TX, David R. (Jane) Haglund of Tequesta, FL and Daniel R. Haglund of Naples, FL; and eight grandchildren: Alicia and Kyra Haglund of Los Angeles, CA, Taylor Haglund of San Diego, CA, Victoria Haglund of Marble Falls, TX, Britta Haglund of San Antonio, and Margot, Nathan and Becket Haglund of Naples. In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, C. Donald Haglund whom she married September 15, 1945 and who died December 5, 2002. Marilyn's family extends heartfelt gratitude to Terri Lynn Best, Johnna Grice, Sue Helwig, Tammy Fisher, Crisinda Orr, Julie Bessy and caregivers for their special help. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 31st at 11:00 a.m. in Bellinger Chapel of First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Thomas A. Sweet will officiate. Friends will be received in Fellowship Hall of the church following the service. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
