Obituary of Mildred M. Berg

It is with great sadness that I announce the peaceful passing of my mother, Mildred "Millie" Mary Berg on September 30, 2009 in her 87th year. Millie was born on January 4, 1922 in Erie, PA, the daughter of the late Frank and Rose Sittinger. She is survived by her loving daughter Dale Berg-Beaumier of Montreal, Quebec Canada. Millie was preceded by her beloved husband of 59 years, Clare Berg on October 1, 1999 and her daughter Lauren Lorence on Sept. 9, 1997. Special thanks to her most cherished friend for 69 years Dorothy Lindstrom whose devotion was remarkable and to Kathy Pangborn and Val McCray for their loving care. To her neighbors, Bob and Harriet Fralick and Gary and Mary Berndt who watched over her, many thanks. All truly "Good Samaritans" who made it possible for my mom's wish to stay at home come true. The love story of Millie and Clare was truly magical. Most nights she would play the piano while Clare would play the accordion as they sang together. Millie loved organizing parties and was devoted to her family. She enjoyed baking for her family and friends and was well known for her amazing pies. Her courage and strength was with her till the end and will live in the memories of those she left behind. You are in our hearts. Miss you Mom, Love Dale. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday October 13, 2009 in the Lind Funeral Home where the family will receive friends for one half hour before the service. The Rev. Donald E. Ray, retired chaplain of W.C.A. Hospital will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Millie's memory to a charity of one's choice.
