Obituary of Clara M. Booth

Clara M. Booth, 84, formerly of the Chautauqua Colony Apartments, 2109 Southwestern Dr., Lakewood, NY passed away at 6:20 a.m. Tuesday (July 13, 2010) in the Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. An area resident for most of her life she was born December 2, 1925 in Rixford, PA a daughter of the late Guy P. and Mary Ethel Lockwood Carpenter. Clara was a personal care aide in private homes in the Jamestown area, most notably with the John Knobloch Family, for whom she had taken care of for many years. In earlier years she had worked for the former Sterlingworth Corporation. She was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society for over 49 years and for her many hours of giving she was named the Volunteer of the Year for the American Cancer Society. Surviving are two daughters Jody Terhune of Jamestown, Donna (John) Vistrand of Niobe, five grandsons, Daniel (Heather) Terhune of Frewsburg, Keith (Carrie Lover) Terhune of Middleton, NH, Darrin (Rachel) Terhune of Randolph, Andy Vistrand, Scott Vistrand both of Niobe and five great grandchildren Tailour, Maisie, Caleb, Kaylin Terhune, and Nathan Rhodes. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Donald C. Booth whom she married January 13, 1945 and who died December 22, 1989, four sister and 2 brothers. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Douglas M. Knopp, pastor of the Christ First United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and for one hour prior to the service on Thursday in the funeral home.
