Obituary of Charles W. Pillsbury

Charles W. Pillsbury, 85, of 150 Prather Ave., formerly of 114 Wilton Ave. died at 11:15 a.m. Sunday (September 12, 2010) in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. A lifelong area resident he was born February 23, 1925 in Jamestown, NY a son of the late Walter L. and Ida M. Hammergren Pillsbury. He was a graduate of Jamestown High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from April 30, 1943 to November 21, 1945 in the 12th Photo Reconnaissance Squadron during World War II. Before his retirement he was employed by the former CMK Auto Parts Store for 24 years retiring in 1987 and in earlier years had worked for Volkswagen of Jamestown and the former Carlson's Creamery. He was a member of the Ira Lou Spring Post # 149 American Legion and will be remembered as an avid sportsman who loved to spend time hunting and fishing. Surviving are a cousin Allen Pillsbury of Frewsburg, several nieces and nephews including Marlene (Peter) Volpe of Jamestown, NY, Brian (VA) Pillsbury of Hudson, OH, Joan (Wayne) Skinner of Brooksville, FL, David Pillsbury of Richmond, VA , several grandnieces and grandnephews including Lisa (Mike Ramsey) of Hudson, OH, Kristin (Bruce) Barker of Powell, OH, Craig (Connie) Skinner of Sandy, UT, Jill (Carey) Boren of Watertown, NY, Curt (Lisa) Skinner of Tampa, FL, Adam Pillsbury, Molly (Chris) Burks, Abigail Pillsbury all of Richmond, VA, Michael Volpe, Steven Volpe both of Buffalo, NY. He is also survived by many great grandnieces and great grand nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers Lawrence and Merle Pillsbury. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Inurnment will be in the Lake View Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed.
