Obituary of Ronald D. Swanson

Ronald D. Swanson, 77, of 58 River Creek Way, Sugar Land, TX, died Friday September 17th at his home. He was born July 3, 1933 in Jamestown the son of the late Clarence H. and Ruth Lang Swanson. Ron was a 1951 graduate of Jamestown High School. Upon graduation he was a draftsman at Hope's Windows, Jamestown. He left Jamestown to work for Virginia Metal Products in Virginia; then worked for Exxon-Mobil as a leasing coordinator for 29 years. Ron loved the outdoors: he played golf and loved fishing at Sabine Lake where he had built a second home. Ron was a very kind and loving brother. Surviving are four sisters, Patricia A. (Everett) Nelson, Susan J. Brewer, both of Jamestown; Sonya R. Swanson of Houston, TX; and Cynthia C. (Dale) Carlson of Oneonta, NY; nine nephews; William (Linda) Nelson, Robert (Lori) Nelson, Daniel (Sheryl) Nelson, Douglas Nelson, Matthew (Deborah) Swanson, Alexander Brewer, Nathan Brewer, Daniel (Susan) Carlson, and James (Katrina) Carlson and three nieces; Nancy (Thomas) Corey, Betsy (Jack) Weisener, Kirsten (Joseph) Tarnowski; many grandnieces, grandnephews, and several cousins. The funeral service will be held at the Lind Funeral Home in Jamestown Saturday September 25, at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. Nate Wood, pastor of Ellery Baptist Church will officiate. The family will receive friends beginning at Noon on the day of the funeral. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.
