Obituary of Marilyn J. Ricketts

Marilyn Ann Jones Ricketts, 83, of Presbyterian Senior Care of Oakmont, PA, formerly of 975 Hunt Road, Lakewood, and Loyalton of Lakewood, died at 11:00 p.m. Monday (November 15, 2010) in The Willows of Presbyterian Senior Care. An area resident for most of her life, she was born February 4, 1927, in Jamestown, N.Y., the daughter of the late Alfred E. and Ina Gustafson Jones. She was a 1945 graduate of Jamestown High School, and a 1949 graduate of Michigan University, Ann Arbor, MI, with a degree in elementary education. She began her teaching career in the Jamestown School District as an elementary teacher. She then taught kindergarten at Celeron Elementary School of the Southwestern Central School District from 1968 until her retirement in 1996. She was a longtime member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, and the Norden Womens Club. She was a longtime volunteer in the Gift Shop at WCA Hospital. She loved knitting and spending the warmer months in the garden. She and her brother, Philip, loved spending time with their extended Jones Family in the Jamestown area. Surviving are her two daughters: Ann R. (Randy) Galm of Irwin, Pa., and Mary R. (Phil) Ramm of Forest Hills, Pa.; two grandsons: Brian and Steven Galm of Irwin, Pa. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore H. "Ted" Ricketts whom she married July 14, 1951 and who died April 13, 2009 and a brother, Philip Jones. The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the First Congregational Church of Christ. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home.
