Obituary of Cynthia E. Lane

Cynthia E. Rydell Lane, 67, formerly of Jamestown and Kingston, NY passed away on Thursday (November 25, 2010) in the Clare Bridge of Williamsville, Williamsville, NY. A native of Jamestown, she was born August 11, 1943 the daughter of the late Ralph V. and Ellen Marie Olson Rydell. Cindy was a 1961 graduate of Jamestown High School and earned her bachelor's degree in education from the State University of New York at Albany, NY. Following her education she began her career working for the Falconer Central School System, Falconer, NY. She then moved to Kingston, NY and was a math teacher at the Kingston High School for over 30 years before her retirement. Cindy was an avid volunteer for various causes in her community. She was formerly on the board of director's for The Mental Health Association in Ulster County and was an active member for many years. She was also an accomplished floral designer owning and operating the "Bee's Attic" Floral Shop from her home in Kingston for several years. She was known for her beautiful dried floral arrangements. Surviving are her husband Robert H. "Rob" Lane whom she married January 4, 1997, two daughters Cheryl (Robert) Cote of Falls Church, VA, Melissa Moore of Woodstock, NY, two brothers David Rydell of Rochester, NY, Ralph Curtis Rydell of Kennedy, NY, two step-children Christopher (Traci) Lane of Kingston, NY, Marissa (John) Vandenburgh of Scotia, NY and two step-grandchildren Peyton and Adam Lane of Kingston, NY. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a sister Mary Ellen Rydell. The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Douglas M. Knopp, pastor of the Christ First United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
