Obituary of Elton S. Abbott

Elton S. Abbott, 87, of El Cajon, CA formerly of Jamestown, NY died March 5, 2011 at his home in Calif. A California resident since 1958, he was born February 16, 1924 in Pittsburgh, PA a son of the late Floyd A. and Letha Rhoades Abbott and was a brother to seven siblings Before his retirement in 1998, he was employed as a heat treater for General Dynamics. In earlier years he was employed by the former Crescent Tool Company until 1958 and was also a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard as a Seaman 2C until 1943. Surviving are his children Elton S. Abbott, Jr. Regina L."Gina" Vollrath both of El Cajon, CA, Daniel W. Abbott of Phoenix, AZ, seven grandchildren Arthur, Cynthia, Timothy, Charles, Jr., David, Steven, James and six great grandchildren Dustin, Andrew, Leeann, Ryan, Ashley and Sarah. He was preceded in death by his wife the former Clara Ann McBride Abbott who died March 22, 1998 and a son Arthur J. Abbott who died in 1954. The funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende, pastor of Holy Apostles Parish will officiate. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends will be received from 3-6 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
