Obituary of Allen R. Fredrickson

Allen R. Fredrickson, 73, of 131 Franklin St., Lakewood, died at 2:28 a.m. Monday (March 28, 2011) in WCA Hospital due to complications of Diabetes. He was born August 8, 1937 in Jamestown, a son of the late Robert and Beatrice Johnson Fredrickson, and graduated from Southwestern Central School in 1955. He was a Chautauqua County businessman who will be remembered for his strong work ethics. He started his career in the bottling room and became the Vice President of Coca Cola Bottling in Jamestown. He later worked as the manager of Holiday Harbor Marina and retired as manager of Smith Boys Marina in Ashville. A member of Lakewood United Methodist Church, he also belonged to the Lakewood Memorial Post 1286 American Legion, Lakewood Rod & Gun Club and was a member of the Masons. Al's focus in life was his love for his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. A very kind and gentle man, he was willing to help whenever needed. He had a passion for enjoying life and could be found boating on Chautauqua Lake or driving his motor home, his red Chevy truck or his Cub Cadet. Al also enjoyed traveling with his family and made many trips to Florida and Disney World. Al had many talents which included the love of music - he could play the piano, organ, guitar and accordion and loved singing with his family. He will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor and always having a joke to tell. Al is survived by four children: Gail (Ed) Liddell of Bemus Point, Allen (Hope) Fredrickson of Sinclairville, and Lorie Jackson and and Sheri Stahlman, both of Lakewood; seven grandchildren: Josh (Chantelle) Liddell of Bemus Point, Kiel (Angela) Liddell of Westfield, Michael Jackson and Chris Jackson of Lakewood, Corinne Fredrickson and Kelsey Fredrickson of Sinclairville and Jessie Stahlman of Lakewood; and two brothers, Ronald (Vicki) Fredrickson of Arizona and Bob Fredrickson of Ashville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Ostrom Fredrickson whom he married April 6, 1957 and who died July2, 2010. A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. Pastor Don and Sandy DeAngelo will officiate. Inurnment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ashville Fire Department, Helicopter Pad Fund, P.O.
