Obituary of Dominica Deppas

Dominica "Dolly" Deppas, 78, of 7 Grandin Ave. Jamestown, NY passed away at 4:03 a.m.unday (April 3, 2011) in the Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Buffalo, NY. A lifelong area resident she was born November 27, 1932 in Jamestown, NY a daughter of the late Joseph and Sarah Guarneri Mazzone. Before her retirement she was employed as a teller for Key Bank for many years. She later worked for Brigiotta's Farmland Produce and Garden Center for several years. In earlier years she worked for the former Jamestown General Hospital. She was a member of the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church where she was active in the Ladies Erene Society. She was also a volunteer for the Yassou Festival and the former St. Nicholas Bingo Night. She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother who was an excellent cook. She loved to cook Italian, Greek and Albanian specialties. She also loved to watch movies and spend time knitting. She cherished her time spent with her children, grandchildren and her Tuesday Evening Burger King Group. Surviving are three sons, Louis A. (Melissa) Deppas, John D (Megan) Deppas, James G. Deppas all of Jamestown, ten grandchildren Brynne, Morgan, Sydney, Erica, Chelsea, Joshua, Anthony, Rachel, Ryan and Gregory Deppas all of Jamestown, a sister Lucy Cook of Warren, PA. and her sister in law Rose Mocklar of Akron, OH. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Anthony "Dony" Deppas whom she married July 3, 1955 and who died February 17, 2005, two sisters Sarah Mazzone VanEvery, Antoinette "Doe" Bush and six brothers Samuel, Frank, Thomas, Joseph, Phillip and James Mazzone. The funeral will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. The Rev. George S. Zervos, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home where a Trisagion Prayer Service will be conducted at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday.
