Obituary of Mary E. Olson

Mary E. Olson, 82, of 138 Maple St. in Jamestown, died at 2:50 p.m. Friday (May 6, 2011) in WCA Hospital. She was the widow of Ronald L. Olson who died October 15, 2007. Mary was born in Jamestown on May 28, 1928, a daughter of the late Ralph and Ruth Gibson Briggs. For over 20 years she was employed by the former Crescent Tool Co. and retired after 15 years with Chautauqua Hardware. Mary was a member of the John W. Tiffany Post 53 VFW. She is survived by a son, Michael Kosthorst of Jamestown; two grandchildren, Kristy McKotch of Celoron and Derrick Chadwick of Jamestown; a brother, Gerald (Sylvia) Lundberg of Jamestown and sister, Sally Bartlett of Commerce City, CO; a nephew, David Nichols of Colorado and four nieces, Dawn and Lynn Nichols of Colorado, Arlene Hayes of Florida and Linda Madison of Iowa; and four stepsons: Jeff Olson of Rochester, NY, Tim Olson of Sinclairville, NY, Randy Olson of Nashville, TN and Wayne Olson of Perrysburg, NY. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her ex-husband, James Kosthorst; two brothers, Jack and Thomas Briggs; a sister, Joyce Briggs Fuller; and a stepson, Greg Olson. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. Pastor Rodney Sprowls of the Panama Baptist Church will officiate. Inurnment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home Thursday.
