Obituary of Ruth E. Pratt

Ruth E. Pratt, 92, formerly of 11 Green St. in Lakewood and Tanglewood Manor, died at 11:55 a.m. Friday, May 13, 2011 in WCA Hospital. She was the widow of the late Kenneth L. Pratt, whom she married July 6, 1939 and who died February 23, 1978. A lifelong area resident, she was born August 26, 1918 in Portland, NY, one of six children of the late Frederick and Belle Reardon Farnham. Ruth was the last surviving charter member of Lakewood Baptist Church where she had also served as Sunday School secretary. Surviving are two daughters, Kathleen (Merwyn) Sloan of Gerry and Dolores (Jim) Davidson of Avon Park, FL; five grandchildren: Jason Straight of Cheboygan, MI, Mark Davidson of Tampa, FL, Steven Davidson of Connecticut, Michael Swanson of Indianapolis, IN and Alyssa Abbott of Frewsburg, NY; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice L. Abbott who died September 26, 2000; three brothers, Calvin and Gerald Farnham, who died in 1945 during WWII, and William Farnham; and two sisters, Lura Meeder and Edna Loveless. The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Daniel W. Cook will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Lakewood Baptist Church, 150 Erie St., Lakewood, NY 14750.
