Obituary of Scott A. Burnett

Scott A. Burnett, 42, of 26 Beaver St. in Celoron, died Saturday, May 14, 2011 in his home. A lifelong area resident, he was born in Jamestown on January 19, 1969. He is survived by his mother, Linda (Melvin "Butch") Faley Ernewein and his father, Robert J. (Sylvia) Burnett, both of Celoron; brothers Robert C. (Rebecca) Burnett of Erie, PA, Matthew (Kate) Burnett of Celoron, Bruce Ernewein of Montoursville, PA, Brian (Carrie) Ernewein of Spring, TX, Daniel and James Buziak of Buffalo and sister, Pamela Buziak of Jamestown; and nieces and nephews Alyssa and Alex Burnett, Madelyn Burnett and Nicholas Buziak. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert J. and Margaret Burnett and Carlton "Butch" and Jeannette Faley. Scott learned the carpet trade from his father and did that for many years before retiring due to poor health. He loved his nieces and nephews and was especially close to his goddaughter for whom he would babysit anytime. Scott enjoyed doing Friday night fish fries at his family's restaurant, Nelson's Caf. He also was the chef at all family gatherings. He was an avid reader, enjoyed playing chess and loved golf. Although he faced many challenges, he still lived his life to the fullest, never complaining. Scott will be remembered as a free spirit who marched to the beat of his own drum. His mischievous, dimpled grin will be missed by all. The funeral will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Sam Shreffler will officiate. Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home Tuesday. Memorials may be made to the WCA Hospital Dialysis Unit, P.O. Box 840, Jamestown, NY 14701; or to the Celoron Fire Department, P.O. Box 328, Celoron, NY 14720.
