Obituary of Anthony P. Trass

Anthony P. "Nino" Trass, 70, of 620 Prospect St Jamestown, passed away at 1:25 a.m. Monday (May 30, 2011) in the Heritage Park Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Facility following a brief illness and surrounded by his loving family. A lifelong area resident he was born January 12, 1941 in Jamestown, NY a son of the late Phillip and Dora Pollaro Trass. Nino was a graduate of Jamestown High School. Before his retirement he was employed as a driver for the United Parcel Service for 30 years. He was a member of the Jamestown Moose Lodge, the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club and was a social member of the American Legion and the Chautauqua Lake Fishing Association Club. In previous years he was a coach for the Jamestown Midget Football League and also a coach for the Womens Softball League in Jamestown. He will be remembered as a real family person who loved spending time with his family and many groups of friends. He was an avid boater, golfer and motorcycle rider. He loved boating on Chautauqua Lake with all of his boat people, loved riding his motorcycle with his many "Harley" friends and enjoyed golfing in serveral leagues. He also looked forward to taking trips to visit his son's families and would attend his grandchildrens sporting events whenever he was able. For many years he was his daughter Vicky's number one volunteer for the Gus Macker Basketball Tournament. His many friends were very important to him and he enjoyed his coffee groups at Tim Hortons and Fishers Restaurant. Surviving are a daughter Victoria Trass Bardo (William VanDyke) of Jamestown, two sons Anthony D. (Susan) Trass of Lawrenceville, GA, Eric L. (Gretchen) Trass of Louisville, KY, two grandchildren Jordan K. Bardo of Jamestown, Anna K. Trass of Louisville, KY, two brothers Samuel Trass of Rochester, NY, Phillip Trass, Jr. of Louisville, KY. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews as well as his close friends Ron and Denise Barber and his constant companion, his dog "Gabby". The funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Eric M. Williams, Rector of St. Lukes Episcopal Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
