Obituary of Carrol E. Foster

Carrol Evelyn Chase Foster, 91, of 169 S. Main St. Jamestown, died at 12:47 AM Sunday (July 10, 2011) in UPMC at Hamot, Erie, PA. A lifelong area resident, she was born December 26, 1919 in Jamestown the daughter of Glenn and Elma Luce Chase. She was the widow of Herbert P. Foster whom she married September 4, 1940 and who died March 15, 1996. Carrol was a member of the last graduating class of the former Sinclairville High School. She worked at WCA Hospital in the Maternity Ward for many years, and was a Past Noble Grand in the Rebekah Lodge. She attended Fluvanna Community Church, and was a member of Trinity Chapel of Frewsburg, Falconer Senior Citizens, and Celoron/West Ellicott Senior Citizens. Surviving are a daughter, Kathryn (Daniel) Holdridge of Jamestown; four sons, Paul H. (Paula) Foster of Reidsville, NC; Robert A. Foster of Jamestown; MSgtLeRoy G. (Ruthann) Foster Ret. of Westfield with whom she resided since May; David M. (Trudy) Foster of Colorado Springs, CO; 14 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce A. Leasure; a granddaughter, Christy Evans; two sisters, Francis Bannister; Marylou Rowehl; and a brother, Roger Jones. The funeral service will be held at 2 PM Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Dayle F. Keefer will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon until 2 PM Wednesday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fluvanna Community Church, 3363 Fluvanna Ave Ext., Jamestown, NY 14701.
