Obituary of Elaine Agnello

Elaine M. Agnello, 81, of 191 Myrtle St. Jamestown, passed away at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday (July 19, 2011) in WCA Hospital. A lifelong area resident she was born April 19, 1930, in Jamestown, NY a daughter of the late Alfred and Gerda Billgren. She was a 1948 graduate of Jamestown High School and was a former member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. Before her retirement she was employed by the former Quality Markets from 1974 to 1995, working as the Deli Manager and Catering Coordinator. She also was a cooking hostess for the TV show "Cooking with Peachy and Elaine" for 17 years. In earlier years she had worked for the Jamestown Public Schools from 1948 to 1954 and for her family at the former GMA Supermarket. She will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother who loved to cook and bake for her family, especially the Sunday dinners. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Nicholas O. Agnello, whom she married July 9, 1949, a daughter Judy M. (Charlie) Darling of Jamestown, a son Nicholas J. (Autumn) Agnello of Port Richey, FL, four grandchildren Kimberly Johnson, Patricia Southwick both of Jamestown, Tony Agnello of Hudson, FL, Nicole Agnello of New Port Richey, FL, a step grandson Charles Darling of Jamestown and six great grandchildren. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by five brothers, one sister and a niece Beverly Steinhoff. The funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. Rev. Darrell G. Duffy, pastor of St. James Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
