Janet ("Jane") Eutecia Bauer (Bennett) 86 Years Old Resided in Urbana, OH Died Friday, August 5th, 2011 in Urbana, OH, surrounded by her loving family. Jane Bauer was born June 13th, 1925, in Jamestown, NY. Jane was the daughter of Una B. (Green) Bennett a teacher, and Guy R. Bennett, a civil engineer, and WWI veteran. Both preceded her in death and were also from Jamestown. Also preceding her in death were her cousin, Margaret Hutchinson (White) a color stylist and design expert, her uncle Roy Bennett, a printer, her uncle Ray Bennett, a teacher, and her aunt Gladys (Bennet) Gustafson, a devoted homemaker. She is also preceded in death by her second husband, Albert Bauer, a businessman from Stamford, CT. She is survived by her cousin, Gail Gustafson, a retired businessman/entrepreneur/ raconteur of Jamestown, NY., As a child, Jane came home every summer to the White family reunion held at Panama Rocks. Jane is related to not only Whites, but also to Greens and Browns, all of Jamestown, and all of whom once visited a local photgrapher named Black for a group photo. Poor Mr. Black , thinking they were teasing him when they told him their names, refused to take their photograph and took refuge by locking himself in his darkroom. Eventually they got their photograph, once the sensitive photographer's nerves were settled and he realized they were indeed telling the truth. Jane grew up in Lansing, Michigan and went on to attend Michigan State University, where she took a Degree In Education. She then went on to study at the Universiity Of Michigan Graduate School of Education, and later received her Masters of Education from theUniversity of Bridgeport, in Bridgeport, CT. While in graduate school, she married her college sweetheart, Henry E. Billiat, and they honeymooned traveling on a motorcycle throughout Europe. Together they had three sons: Steven G. Billiat and his wife Anne Harrison, of Appleton, ME, James E. Billiat of Longmont, CO, and Paul D. Billiat and his wife Mary (Bargar) of Mechanicsburg, OH. While married to Henry (Hank) Billiat, she lived and taught in St. Paul, MN (where Steve and Jim were born), Kansas City, KS (where Paul was born), Minneapolis, and finally in Stamford,CT where she spent most of her life teaching and raising her children. Unfortunately, Jane and Hank's marriage did not last, but Jane did find love again, and married Albert Bauer, a businessman. From that marriage she's survived by her step-daugthers: Sally and Laurie Bauer, both of Houston, TX. Sadly, Jane and Al had only 5 years together before he passed away from complications of diabetes. During her working years, Jane taught for 32 years, attended church regularly, and loved to dote on her children and seven grandchildren: Korinne Billiat (30)of Austin, TX, Britanny (19), Neal (17), Tristan (13), and Kaden (12) Harrison--Billiat of Appleton, ME, and Ian(13), and Miranda (Mia) (11) Billiat of Mechanicsburg, OH. In her retirement years, Jane was able to do some traveling, remained active in her church, gave to many charities, tutored in the local adult literacy program, and continued to be a loving mother and grandmother, and a treasured friend to many. At the end, Jane suffered from Alzheimer's Disease, and had to move to Ohio to be near her son Paul. Even with dementia she was known for her warm smile and caring nature, and was loved very much by her caregivers. Services will be held Thursday August 11, 2011 at Lind Funeral Home.
