Obituary of Mary Helen Patric

Mary Helen Raistrick Patric, 95, formerly of 188 Aldren Ave. and 12 Emory Dr. Jamestown, passed away peacefully on Wednesday (September 7, 2011) at her residence in Rochester, NY surrounded by her family. A lifelong area resident she was born December 19, 1915 in Jamestown, NY a daughter of the late Albert L. and Lillian Walker Raistrick. Mary Helen "Hom" Patric was a graduate of John Marshall High School in Rochester, NY in 1932: she attended the University of Rochester: and graduated from the University of Illinois in 1936 with a degree in Commerce and Banking. She was one of two women to be awarded this degree. She pursued her career in banking and industry until she and her husband founded the Jamestown Stamp Company in 1939. Following the start of her family, she became an active volunteer in the interests of her children as well as some special interests of her own. She was the Treasurer of the WCA Hospital Auxiliary for many years: she was active in the American Association of University Women and their various fund raisers and she was the Chair of the Girl Scouts Cookie Drive of Chautauqua County for many years convincing several fire stations to house thousands of boxes of cookies and she always knew how many boxes there were. She loved to travel and did it into her nineties, sharing these adventures with her family. Her adventures were always fostered by a love of books and reading. She was an avid Bridge player and was often asked to take on the job of keeping score. She was a member of the Moon Brook Country Club, First Presbyterian Church and several other organizations over the years. She will be remembered lovingly by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as her extended family and friends. She is survived by her children: Lowell (Nancy) Patric of Rochester, Robin (Crist) Michos of Jamestown, Todd (Annette) Patric of Jamestown, Dana (Davis) Frame of Rochester, her grandchildren: Michael (Jennifer) Patric of Gaithersburg, MD, Laura (Jerry) Furciniti of Fairport, Kevin Patric of Hong Kong, Kathleen (Steven) Turner of Ellicott City, MD, Jennifer Michos of Washington, DC, Shannon Patric of Charleston, SC, Christopher Patric of Jamestgown, Natalie (Dan) Carroll of Corning, Stuart Frame of Buffalo, Anna Frame, Catherine Frame both of Rochester and her great grandchildren Grace Patric, Jack Patric, Evan Furciniti and Dillon Furciniti. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Marvin W. Patric who died August 24, 1992, a brother Gardner Raistrick and a sister Alberta Brownell. The funeral will be held at 12:00 (Noon) on Sunday in Christ Chapel of the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center. The Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt, Chaplain will officiate. Entombment will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery Mausoleum. Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home.
