Obituary of Robert L. Rosengren, Sr.

Robert L. Rosengren, Sr., 83, of 33 Teddy Ave., Lakewood died at 11:40 p.m. Wednesday (September 21, 2011) in his home. A lifelong area resident, he was born September 14, 1928 in Jamestown, a son of the late Hans F. and Seri Johnson Rosengren, and was a World War II Navy veteran. Bob was employed by the Automatic Voting Machine Corp. in Jamestown for almost 50 years, retiring as foreman in 1992. During those years, he travelled to 47 of the 50 United States setting up voting machines for elections. He was a member of the Herman Kent Post 777 American Legion, War Vets Recreation, AARP and a life member of the Celoron Moose. Always very handy with tools, Bob had built four homes as well as many desks, stands cupboards and a grandfather clock. His motto was 'Never leave for tomorrow what you can do today'. Surviving is his wife, Bonnie Christianson Rosengren, whom he married June 14, 1985; a son, Robert L. Rosengren, Jr. of North Carolina and daughter, Kathleen Bosley of Lakewood, NY; three step-children: James J. Pike and Jody L. Bevacqua, both of Jamestown and Randall E. Pike of Busti; 16 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Fellows of Jamestown and sister-in-law, Virginia Rosengren of Cleveland, OH; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandsons, Paul Rosengren and Christopher Farr; a sister, Marie A. Wilson; and a brother, Hans F. "Fritz" Rosengren, Jr. The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. Pastor Rick Rohlin will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery's Soldiers Circle. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
