Obituary of Charles L. Juel

Charles L. Juel, 82, of 1441 Peck-Settlement Road and Memory Garden, died at 5:00 a.m. Sunday, October 23, 2011 at Heritage Green Rehab & Skilled Nursing. He was born May 13, 1929 in Jamestown, the son of the late Herbert and Esther Johnson Juel, and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1947. Charles served in the U.S. Coast Guard as an Electronics Technician 1st class petty officer during the Korean War. He later worked as a salesman for C.M.K. Auto Parts Corp., eventually serving as president, until his retirement in 1999. Charles was a member of the NYS Automotive Wholesalers Assoc., Automotive Service Industries Assoc., Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, Jamestown Moose #1681, Vikings Lodge #65 and the Thule Lodge #127. He was an avid bowler and golfer and loved playing cards with his long time bowling buddies. He also enjoyed camping with his family over the years. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Shotts Juel, whom he married May 5, 1988; a son, James Juel of Jamestown; four step-children, John, Rick and Robert Martin, all of Jamestown and Susan Conover of Atlanta, GA; twelve grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; and a sister, Marilyn Arters of Jamestown. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Anderson Juel who died January 24, 1979 and a son, Steven R. Juel who died April 26, 1980. A private family service will be held. The Rev. Gerald A. Haglund will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
