Obituary of Carl E. Schauers

Carl E. Schauers, 83, of 134 Ivory St. Frewsburg, NY passed away at 12:50 p.m. Friday (December 2, 2011) in W.C.A. Hospital. An area resident for most of his life he was born August 18, 1928 in Kingsley, PA a son of the late Amil C. and Mame Mawrey Schauers. He was a 1947 graduate of the former Celoron High School where he was active with the class reunion committee. Carl was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1952-1954. Before his retirement he was a press operator for Hopes Windows where he worked for 43 years. He was a member of the Zion Covenant Church where he served as an usher for several years. His other memberships include the Town of Poland Center Senior Citizens, the Town of Carroll Senior Citizens, the Samuel Derby Post 556 American Legion, Frewsburg, the Celoron Historical Society, the Town of Carroll Historical Society, the Local 470 Iron Workers Union and the American Association of Retired Person Chapter 334. Surviving are his wife the former Shirley L. Hultman whom he married May 20, 1978, two sons Alan L. (Cheryl) Schauers of Jamestown, Gary W. Schauers of Sherman, five grandchildren Crystal J. (George) Wynn, Nicole L. Schauers, Mindy Schauers all of Jamestown, Sandra Schauers, David Schauers both of Sherman, four great grandchildren Dennis L. Penhollow, III, Tyler J. Apperson, Charles M. Apperson, Kylie H. Wynn, a sister Letha D. Abbey of Jamestown, and a brother John J. Schauers of Lakewood. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a son Charles E. Schauers, two brothers Richard Schauers, Jimmy Schauers and his step mother Ethel Koresko. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Rick Miller, Senior Pastor and Pastor Steve Kilburn of Zion Covenant Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
