Obituary of Julia Matjoulis

Julia Matjoulis, 94, of 112 Williams St. Jamestown, passed away at 11:15 p.m. Tuesday (December 6, 2011) in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. A Jamestown resident for most of her life, she was born February 12, 1917 in Grapshi, Albania a daughter of the late Elias N. and Anna Adams Kianos. She was a member of the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and the Erene Society of St. Nicks. She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and many church events. Surviving are a daughter Constance "Connie" Mignoli, two sons Nicholas C. Matjoulis, John T. Matjoulis all of Jamestown, six grandchildren Kara (Ted Zervas) Matjoulis of Chicago, IL, John Matjoulis of Jamestown, Larry (Terry) Matjoulis of Bangor, MI, Stacy Manley of Pittsburgh, PA, Julia (Jason) Helsel of Lakewood, Thomas (Erin) Matjoulis of Ashville, six great grandchildren Jacob and Connor Manley, Blake, Brinn and Bryson Matjoulis, Hayley Tracey, a sister Satira Deonas of New Hyde Park, LI, a sister-in-law Violet Kianos of Jamestown and by several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Thomas N. Matjoulis whom she married July 5, 1936 and who died April 29, 1971 and a brother James E. Kianos, Sr. who died August 5, 1986. The funeral will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday in St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. The Rev. George S. Zervos, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. today in the Lind Funeral Home where a Trisagion Prayer Service will be led by Rev. Zervos at 7:00 p.m. today.
