Obituary of Joann Hoff

Joann Hoff, 88 formally of 39 Allendale Ave. died Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Lutheran Social Services. She was born October, 29th, 1923 in Sardinia, NY, a daughter of the late Ferdinand and Rosa Feraldi. She was the widow of William Hoff, whom she married August 13, 1949 and who died in 1989. Joann worked for many years as a Teacher's Aide in the Jamestown Public Schools, retiring in 1986. As all of her family and friends knew, she had a great sense of humor and was always willing to help out no matter what the event. She enjoyed visiting her children, grandchildren, and playing cards with her friends. Joann was known for her excellent pies for which there was no such thing as a "Small Piece". She is survived by a daughter, Paula Carlson of Kenmore, NY; three sons, Randy (Shelley) Hoff of Dubuque, IA, Terry (Debbie) Hoff of Newburgh, IN, Matthew (Sandy) Hoff of Jamestown; 6 grandchildren: Kyle (Tonee) Hoff of Grand Rapids, MI, Lindsay (Brad) Swoverland of Maple Grove, MN, Julie Hoff of Newburgh, IN, David Carlson of Buffalo, NY, Marcia (Paul) Corner of Washington Depot, CT, and Krista Hoff of Jamestown; 12 great grandchildren. She was the sister of Mary Lloyd Jones, Joseph (Helen) Feraldi, Rose (Paul) Keenan, Josephine Durant, Samuel (Ann) Feraldi. She was a member of First Covenant Church, The Allen Park Women's Club and the Thule Lodge. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson Brian Hoff and brothers and sisters Ferdinand Ferd Feraldi, Lawrence Tap Feraldi, Carmel Carm Feraldi, Sondo Smokey Feraldi, Angelo Michael Feraldi and Ellen Peak. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. David B. Larson, retired director of visitation for First Covenant Church will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service Monday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to First Covenant Church, 508 Spring Street, Jamestown, NY 14701 or Charity of choice.
