Obituary of Wesley R. Chall

Dr. Wesley R. Chall, 78, of 202 Beechview Avenue, died Tuesday January 10, 2012, in WCA Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. A Jamestown native, he was born March 27, 1933, the son of the late Russell and Ina Bloomberg Chall. He was a 1951 graduate of Jamestown High School, attended College of Wooster and later graduated in 1957 from University of Buffalo Dental School. He was a veteran of the US Army serving from 1962-64 achieving the rank of Captain. Prior to his retirement in 1998, he practiced family dentistry in Jamestown for 40 years. After he retired he volunteered for Meals on Wheels and also drove for CARTS. He was a lifelong member of Zion Covenant Church where he participated in the choir for 62 years and had served as vice chairman of the church and Sunday school superintendant. Wes had a passion and love of music. Beyond time spent with the church choir he also sang with Chautauqua Chamber Singers, Jamestown Choral Society and The Living Christmas Tree at First Covenant Church. Surviving are his wife Pastor Sally Leman Chall, whom he married July 12, 1958; three children Karin (Jack) Anderson of Fairport, NY, Kristine (Donald) Bingham of Naperville, IL and Thomas (Leslie) Chall of Wheaton, IL; six grandchildren Katherine (Jarrad Coon) Crimmins and Benjamin Crimmins of Fairport, Karl Bingham and Erik Bingham of Naperville and Emma Chall and Allison Chall of Wheaton; a great grandson Mason Coon of Fairport and a sister Cynthia (Richard) Holt of Jamestown. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday in Zion Covenant Church. Rev. Rick Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
