Obituary of Lois S. Crandall

Lois S. Crandall, 81, of 81 East Terrace Ave. Lakewood, NY passed away at 12:50 a.m. Tuesday (January 17, 2012) in W.C.A. Hospital. A lifelong area resident she was born January 25, 1930 in Jamestown, NY a daughter of the late Robert J. and Hazel Anderson Sederholm. She was a graduate of Jamestown High School and was very active in organizing the yearly high school reunion. Before retirement she had worked for the former Herbert's Shoe Store and also was a bookkeeper for her husband at Crandall's Drug Store in Randolph, NY for many years. In earlier years she had worked as an operator for the former Jamestown Telephone Company. Lois was a member of the Lakewood United Methodist Church, Lakewood Women's Club, the Norden Women's Club, Thule Lodge, the Marvin Community House, Y.W.C.A., the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, the Jamestown Shrine Club Auxiliary, the Randolph Eastern Star and was still meeting with her childhood women's club. She also enjoyed volunteering for many years at W.C.A. Hospital and for the Creche. Surviving are a son Steven R. (Kristy) Crandall of Maryville, TN, a daughter Cynthia J. Demo of Alexandria Bay, NY, three grandchildren Allison L. Crandall, Adam S. Crandall both of Maryville, TN, Sarah A. Demo of Alexandria Bay, NY, a great granddaughter Amira L. Guzman, a sister Joanne (John) Burling of Myrtle Beach, SC and her nieces and nephews Kathy Germond, Debbie Wagner, John Burling and Randy Burling. Besides her parents she was preceded in death her husband Robert W. Crandall whom she married September 4, 1954 and who died May 18, 2008 and her step-mother Florence Sederholm. The funeral will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Violet A. Davidson, pastor of the Lakewood United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. Thursday and from 2-4 p.m. Friday, prior to the service in the funeral home.
