Obituary of Beatrice A. Young

Beatrice Avis Francisco Young, 87, of Emeritus of Lakewood, formerly of Busti-Stillwater Road, Southwestern Drive, and Webster, FL, died Wednesday January 18, 2012 in her home. She was born April 26, 1924 in Busti the daughter of the late William C. and Katherine "Kitty" Van Ord Francisco. Beatrice was a 1942 graduate of Jamestown High School and was a member of the JHS Alumni Association and the 100 Member Club. During WWII, she worked as a welder at Dahlstrom Metallic Door in Jamestown. After that, she and her husband helped with the operation of Francisco's General Store in Busti. For 30 years, she drove School bus for Southwestern Central School, retiring in 1981. She enjoyed camping and traveling to Canada, and during a 1970 vacation to Florida, bought property, selling her house in Busti in 1990 and moving to Croom-A Coochee, FL. Her summers were spent with her family in Busti. She loved to knit and crochet. and was a member of the NY State Association of Retirees; Busti Volunteer Fire Department Aux; New York State Federation of Home Bureaus, Inc.; Busti Home Makers; Busti Historical Society; National Association of Senior Friends; National Association for Family and Community Education Inc.; Busti-Lakewood Golden Agers; Busti Federated Church; and Busti United Methodist Women's Association. While in Florida, she was a member of the Croom-A-Coochee Fire Department; Community Club; Baptist Church; Home Makers; Lake Panasoffkee Home Makers; and was a Florida Hospice volunteer. Surviving are two sons, Craig A. (Jennie Marie) Young of Lakewood; Tim A. (Candy) Young of Busti; three grandchildren, Christopher A. (Heather) Young of Lillington, NC; Patrick C. Young of Rochester, NY; Sarah K. (Mark) Garrett of Busti; three great grandchildren, Thomas Aaron Young, Devin J. Knight, both of Lillington, NC; Joseph Patrick Garrett of Busti; and a sister, Gertrude "Trudy" (Ralph) Sandquist of Busti. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence D. "Clare" Young whom she married June 6, 1943 and who died July 31, 1997; and a brother, Alfred Francisco in 1983. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Busti Federated Church. Rev. Lee O'Brien, pastor of the church and Rev. Roy Ferguson, pastor of Busti Church of God will officiate. Burial will be in Busti Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home.
