Obituary of Dorothy J. Larson

Dorothy Jones Larson, 96, formerly of Winchester Rd. Lakewood, NY passed away Friday (January 27, 2012) in the Heritage Inn Assisted Living Facility, Charlottesville, VA. She was born in Jamestown, NY on May 15, 1915, the daughter of the late Oliver and Signe Norberg Jones. She was preceded in death by her husband Marshall A. Larson whom she married November 21, 1941 and who died March 2, 1985. Dorothy was a 1933 graduate of Jamestown High School. She had previously been employed as a travel agent for the former Jamestown Travel Bureau and for the former Bankers Trust Company. She was a lifelong member of the Zion Covenant Church where she was confirmed in 1928. She was active with the Olson Bible Study Class and a volunteer for Zion's visitation committee. She was also a member of the Mozart Club, Marvin Community House, American Scandinavian Heritage Foundation, Allied Arts and was a gray lady at W.C.A. Hospital for several years. Surviving are her brother Everett Jones and wife Lucy of Vero Beach, FL, a son Dr. James Larson and wife Dottie of Lakewood, NY, a daughter Marsha Goodell of Charlottesville, VA, also surviving are grandson Todd Larson and wife Karen of Fort Mill, SC, grandson Dr. Douglas Larson and wife Andrea of Lakewood, NY, grandson Geoffrey Goodell of St. Peters, MO, grandson Stephen Goodell of Charlottsville, VA, granddaughter Amy Piunti and husband Chad of Baltimore, MD, six great grandchildren Ella and Benjamin Piunti, Maggie, MacKenzie, Brody and Bennett Larson. A graveside service will be held in the summer of 2012 in Jamestown, at the convenience of the family. The family asks that memorials may be made to the Zion Covenant Church, 520 Fairmount Ave W.E.
